Signed with a monogram and dated at the bottom of the composition.
The work is presented in a slightly convex gilt frame.
In the lower part of the composition, the artist’s handwritten description of the drawing reads: “Costume of a Polish Woman in the 17th Century | Autumn attire (…?) cap trimmed with sable fur, | and beneath it a type of fabric hood | with a gold cord across the forehead. Fur reaching up to the neck — beneath it, | an embroidered ruff. The underdress of satin, | edged with spotted fur. Over it, | (…?) of heavy fabric (…?) with the skirts turned up | and fastened in two places with golden (…?). | The train of the dress was carried by a page — or a dwarf.”
